Theory: A rise of global consciousness via self-replicating meme machines

by Susan Blackmore from Edge.org:

[...] Artificial meme machines are improving all the time, and the step that will change everything is when these machines become self-replicating. Then they will no longer need us. Whether we live or die, or whether the planet is habitable for us or not, will be of no consequence for their further evolution.

  1. Perhaps we need to do what we can to see self-replicating machines propagate “lumines” (qualities of spirit) along with their memes?

This would open paths for humans, machines, and whatever hybrids emerge to co-evolve and see one another in less rivalrous ways.

More on this opportunity in the first comment at Meme Hacking (http://j.mp/3h7BOp ).
